Can I be vaccinated if I am sick?

If you are ill with a fever, we recommend that you postpone your vaccination until you are fever-free again. However, if you are pressed for time, for example because you have to travel soon, most vaccines can be given, despite fever, with the exception of live attenuated vaccines.

As long as you do not have a fever, commonly occurring symptoms such as sore throat, upset stomach, nausea, pain etc. are not an obstacle to your vaccination.

For certain chronic diseases and conditions, you may not be advised to be vaccinated with live attenuated vaccines.
